I was cleaning up this am and was about to toss this crumpled bag in the trash until it unfurled enough for me to recognize the logo.
It was the Hotel we stayed in while visiting Victoria BC a few years ago. My Dad made all the arrangements for our trip. And he had found the motel online.
When we arrived in Victoria we bought booklets of bus tickets and caught the bus that would drop us off by our Hotel. As  Mom ands I boarded My Dad asked the driver to let us off by the "Red Lion Inn", and I caught a strange look in the drivers eye before he nodded and Dad sat down.
When we arrived the bus driver announced our stop, and we got out across the street from our hotel, which shared the ground level with a liquor store. But what had piqued the Bus driver's interest was the Strip club which took up the whole garden level.
The Marquee announced that the establishment was closed for a company Pontoon trip, which was probably for the best. the Hotel room was fine the place was clean enough for my Mom, which isn't easy. And the staff were pleasant enough, not bubbling, but just as nice and helpful as all of the other people we met there.
But the sign conjured up images of Strippers in G-strings and fishing poles, somewhere on the Victoria River, which was a vision I couldn't let Dad forget. He did his homework, and got really lucky, so we had a great time while we were there.
We had the same driver the following day and Dad admitted he didn't know about the strip club when he booked the place, to which the driver chuckled "well you didn't seem the type".
As we were leaving Canada, the customs officer, as a routine gesture, asked my Mom the name of our hotel, which Mom mis-named as "RedRobin" That made the customs lady laugh, "That's a restaurant down here" she chuckled and Mom giggled when she remembered the correct name.
We have the added bonus of telling the tale of when Dad booked us a room upstairs from a Canadian Strip Club. Not every child gets to add something that sweet to the family album :)
